10 Best Blogging Platforms

We're sorry. We said '10 best blogging platforms' because it sounded more impressive.

Honestly, '10' is a big number. If you put together a list of your favorite movies right now, would you make it past 2? 4? You'd be stretching, right? Including things that didn't actually belong? We felt that same way.

Instead of listing out platforms we're not huge fans of, we're going to highlight only those that we're obsessed with.

We love two blogging platforms: HubSpot & WordPress. Why?

HubSpot

In the interest of full disclosure: this blog was written and published on HubSpot. HubSpot is an Inbound Marketing platform where you can create and manage content (and much, much more). As a blogging platform, HubSpot is the bees knees. Aside from a user-friendly interface and intuitive tool menus (that make formatting and adding media a breeze), HubSpot also helps you set up your content for success before it publishes.

HubSpot's greatest strength as a CMS (content management system) or blogging platform is its 'optimize' tool. While blogging, you can toggle between editing your piece and consulting the optimize tool. Within that tool, you can identify a keyword you'd like to build your post around and HubSpot will make suggestions from there. This includes internal link suggestions, tracking the number of target keywords in your post, title recommendations, word count, meta data suggestions, and more. As you build your blog, it's an invaluable feature to be able to check your work against best practices.

In addition to the ease with which you can blog and publish (and optimize) in HubSpot, the platform will also give you excellent real-time data on your work, rolled into a master dashboard. Again, HubSpot is much more than a blogging platform. But, as a blogging platform, it's tough to beat.

WordPress

A more straightforward blogging platform than HubSpot, WordPress is primarily a content management system. While plug-ins exist for almost every imaginable function (ecommerce, SEO, etc.), its bread-and-butter is content. It's so popular for that reason that it has become almost synonymous with blogging. For building custom websites, WordPress is the perfect platform. It's built for content and is one of the more intuitive and easy to understand platforms available. You can absolutely build a complex juggernaut site on WordPress. But you can also build simple, effective sites that business owners can easily manage on their own.

WordPress's greatest strength is how easy it is to use. Part of what has made it a near-household name is that almost anyone can start a WordPress site, populate it, and edit it when needed. For those who aren't technology natives, WordPress is a beacon of hope. Featuring tools and menus that make writing, editing, and publishing simple, WordPress can be a blogger's paradise.

So there aren't 10 best blogging platforms. But there are two (in our opinion). If blogging isn't your thing, you should consider hiring someone to create and manage your content for you. Having original content to publish and share can transform your marketing efforts and generate qualified leads. If you're starting a blog, or thinking about it, we recommend HubSpot and WordPress.
